Macrebur welcomes Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal to their factory in Lockerbie.

25.3.24, LOCKERBIE, UK: The directors of plastic roads firm MacRebur Ltd were delighted to welcome Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal to their factory in Lockerbie today.

The Princess Royal attended the celebrations for the fifth anniversary of the opening of the headquarters at Broomhouses.

She toured the site and heard how MacRebur's pioneering bitumen replacement product is made; met the company founders, staff, investors and supporters; and signed the visitors' book.

A plaque was also unveiled by Her Royal Highness to mark the occasion.

Flowers made from recycled plastic were presented to her by the directors' six daughters: Anna, Imogen and Elise Reid, India and Keira McCartney and Anabelle Burnett.

MacRebur founders Toby McCartney, Nick Burnett and Gordon Reid said: "We are honoured and delighted to have welcomed the Princess Royal to Lockerbie today.

"She seemed to enjoy the visit and finding out about what we do and clearly takes a keen interest in environmental matters and in supporting UK, and Scottish, businesses like ours.

"It was fantastic to host her and to share the experience with our hard-working team and with our supportive families, all of whom have played their part in getting us to where we are today, as a global company that's helping to tackle the issue of plastic waste."

Dumfriesshire, Clydesdale and Tweeddale MP David Mundell was amongst the guests during the royal visit.

He said afterwards: “The Lockerbie visit was worthy recognition of the international success and green credentials of locally-based plastic roads company MacRebur as they celebrated the fifth anniversary of their factory and offices in the town.

“Her Royal Highness was clearly interested to meet the local founders of the business and learn more about their expansion into many diverse geographical markets with the core value of recycling waste plastic at the heart of their operation.”

Deputy Lord Lieutenant Hardip Atwal was also among the welcoming party and said: "It was a great honour for MacRebur to be selected for this Royal visit by The Princess Royal and I was delighted to be there and see how interested she was in everything they are doing.

"I wish them well for the future."
